    Hyflux Ltd began in 1989 as Hydrochem (S) Pte Ltd, a trading company selling water treatment systems in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

    In 1999, we began to develop and manufacture our own proprietary membranes. Today, we supply our membranes to plants and installations all over the world.

  • 2001 – Listed on SGX

    2001 – Listed on SGX

    Hyflux Ltd became the first water treatment company to be listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange in January 2001.

  • 2003 – Proprietary Kristal® membranes installed in Seletar NEWater Plant

    2003 – Proprietary Kristal® membranes installed in Seletar NEWater Plant

    The Seletar NEWater Plant is a Design & Build project undertaken by Hyflux for the Public Utilities Board of Singapore (PUB). Capable of producing 24,000 m³ of recycled wastewater per day, the plant marks the first time that Hyflux’s proprietary ultrafiltration membranes are used on such a scale.

    2003 – Singapore’s first SWRO plant

    The SingSpring Desalination Plant is a 20-year Build-Own-Operate project undertaken by Hyflux for the Public Utilities Board of Singapore (PUB) to supply drinking water for the western part of Singapore. The plant, Singapore’s first and largest seawater desalination plant, was completed 3 months ahead of schedule in September 2005. With a daily capacity of 136,380 m³, it can meet some 10 percent of the nation’s water needs.

    2004 – China’s largest SWRO plant

    The Tianjin Dagang Desalination Plant is a 30-year Design-Build-Own project undertaken by Hyflux for the Tianjin Dagang District Government. With a daily capacity of 100,000 m³ (expandable to 150,000 m³), it is the largest membrane-based seawater desalination facility in China. The plant will supply industrial water to the district of Dagang for a period of 30 years.

    2007 - Hyflux Water Trust established as the first pure-play water trust to be listed in Asia

    In November 2007, Hyflux launched the Hyflux Water Trust (HWT), the first pure play global water business trust to be listed in Asia. HWT provides investors looking for long term stable income streams with an opportunity to invest in water-related infrastructure assets.

  • 2008 – World’s largest SWRO plant in Magtaa, Algeria

    2008 – World’s largest SWRO plant in Magtaa, Algeria

    In April 2008, Hyflux won the bid – amidst intense global competition with top-flight international players – to build the world’s largest reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant in Magtaa, Algeria. This landmark win has helped Hyflux surge ahead in the global water landscape. The plant is expected to be completed in 2011 and will add 500,000 m³/day of water supply in Algeria.
